Shoremen Compete in Two Regattas

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College men's rowing team competed in two regattas today. Washington entered one boat in the championship four at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, MA. The rest of the team hosted the Tapke Chase, held this morning on the Chester River in Chestertown, MD.

At the Head of the Charles, the Shoremen finished 25th of 25 boats in 14:05.188 in the championship four. The Head of the Charles features many of the top club and collegiate crews from the country and around the world.

Junior Tom Murray (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown) served as coxswain of the championship four at the Head of the Charles. Sophomore Andrew Bright (Gambrills, MD/DeMatha) sat stroke, junior Martin Dunphy (Finksburg, MD/Westminster) sat in seat three, sophomore Ryan Trone (New Oxford, PA/ New Oxford) sat in the two seat, and sophomore Adam Askham (Simsbury, CT/Simbury) was in the bow.

At the Tapke Chase, Washington's novice "A" boat was third in the men's four in 16:22.20. In the men's eight, Washington's novice boat was fifth in 17:03.88. A boat of Washington College alumni finished second in the men's eight in 15:39.50.

The Shoremen will finish their fall racing season November 6th at the Head of the Occoquan in Lorton, VA.
