Both Varsity Boats Finish First

LORTON, VA --The Washington College men's rowing team won two races at the Occoquan Sprints Regatta held today on the Occoquan Reservoir in Lorton, VA. Both of the Shoremen's varsity four boats won their respective races.

Washington's varsity four "A" boat finished first in its race in front of Johns Hopkins, LaSalle, Penn State's "A" boat, United States Merchant Marine Academy's "A" boat, and Pittsburgh's "A" boat.

The Shoremen's varsity four "B" boat won its race by beating out Penn State's "B" boat, USMMA's "B" boat, Pittsburgh's "B" boat, and George Mason.

In the frosh/novice four, Washington just missed out on winning as Scranton crossed the finish inches in front of the Shoremen.

The races were shortened from 2,000 meters to 1,000 meters due to a strong headwind.

The Shoremen return to competition April 17th at the Knecht Cup in Camden, NJ.
