Shoremen Compete at Occoquan Chase
WAC Places 7th, 12th in Open Four

LORTON, VA -- The Washington College men's rowing team opened its fall 2004 racing schedule today at the Occoquan Chase in Lorton, VA. The Shoremen entered two boats in the Open Four. Washington's "A" boat finished seventh of 16 boats in 17:14, while the "B" boat was 12th in 17:48.

Junior Tom Murray (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown) served as coxswain of the open four "A" boat boat. Sophomore Andrew Bright (Gambrills, MD/DeMatha) sat stroke, sophomore Adam Askham (Simsbury, CT/Simbury) was in the three seat, sophomore Ryan Trone (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) was in the two seat, and junior Martin Dunphy (Finksburg, MD/Westminster) was the bow.

Junior Amanda Whittemore (Media, PA/Academy of Notre Dame) was the coxswain of the open four "B" boat. Sophomore Adrian Peterson (Perryville, MD/Perryville) sat stroke, sophomore Jared Hornyak (Trenton, NJ/Hamilton) was in the three seat, sophomore Edward Mundy (Winnetka, IL/New Trier) was in the two seat, and junior Kevin Marshall (Silver Spring, MD/RHSM, UT) was in the bow.

Next Sunday, members of the Washington College men's rowing team will compete at the Head of the Charles regatta in Boston, MA, while Washington's novice rowers host the Tapke Chase on the Chester River.
