3, 2004 CHESTERTOWN, MD --The Washington College men's rowing team won two of the three men's race in a match regatta against Mary Washington this morning on the Chester River. Washington College won the regatta, which was scored for both men's and women's races, 48-42. Washington's "A" boat won the varsity four in 7:11.52, pulling ahead of Mary Washington in the second half of the race. Mary Washington was second in 7:19.58, while Washington's "B" boat finished third in 7:54.62. Mary Washington won a tight race in the lightweight four, winning in 7:18.80 and holding off a late push by the Shoremen, who finished second in 7:22.93. Mary Washington's "B" boat grabbed an early lead in the frosh/novice four, but Washington made a big move at the 1,000 meter mark to pull ahead. The Shoremen held on to finish in first in 8:07.66, while Mary Washington's "A" boat finished second in 8:13.97, pulling ahead of MWC's "B" boat just before the finish. Mary Washington's "B" boat finished in 8:14.94. The Shoremen return to action tomorrow at the Occoquan Sprints in Lorton, VA. |
