Championship Four is Fifth at
Head of the Occoquan

LORTON, VA -- Washington College medaled and finished fifth of 25 boats in the championship four as the WC men's rowing team closed out its Fall schedule at the Head of the Occoquan, held on the Occoquan Reservoir in Lorton, VA, this afternoon. The Shoremen also finished ninth of 16 boats in the club eight.

Sophomore Tom Murray (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown) served as coxswain of the championship four boat, which finished in 16:56 and was the third collegiate boat to finish the race, behind only Pittsburgh and Richmond. Freshman Andrew Bright (Gambrills, MD/DeMatha) sat stroke, senior Justin Smith (Yardley, PA/George School) was in the three seat, senior Travis Elliott (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) was in the two seat, and senior Jonathan Lange (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt) was the bow.

Senior Jennifer Daley (Middleborough, MD/Eastern Technical) was the coxswain of WC's club eight boat, which finished in 16:54. Joining her in the boat were freshman Adam Askham (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) at stroke, senior Greg Smith (Sykesville, MD/Mount St. Joseph) in the seven seat, senior Dwayne Yerger (Naples, FL/The Hill School, PA) in the six seat, sophomore Rick Adrian (Baltimore, MD/Towson) in the five seat, sophomore Martin Dunphy (Finksburg, MD/Westminster) in the four seat, sophomore Tyler Raven (Annapolis, MD/Gunston Day School) in the three seat, sophomore Kevin Marshall (Silver Spring, MD/RHSM, UT) in the two seat, and sophomore Mike Philipp (Newark, DE/Newark) at bow.
