Lightweight Four Takes Third
at Keuper Cup Regatta

MELBOURNE, FL -- The Washington College men's rowing team competed at four-team Keuper Cup Regatta in Melbourne, FL, today. The Shoremen finished third in the lightweight four and had two boats race in the varsity four.

In the lightweight four, the WC boat which finished in 8:23 consisted of freshman Sarah Curnoles (Baltimore, MD/Parkville) at coxswain, freshman Brant Whisler (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Moreland) at stroke, freshman Brian Matthews (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), and sophomores Bryan Seward (Grasonville, MD/Queen Anne's County) and Brendan Cunningham (Arnold, MD/Mount St. Joseph). Florida Institute of Technology took first and second in the race as its "A" boat finished in 7:27 and its "B" boat finished in 8:03. Stetson finished fourth in 8:32.

The the varsity four, the Shoremen's "A" boat finished fourth in 7:30 and their "B" boat finished sixth in 7:50. FIT took first and second in this race as well with an "A" boat completing the race in 6:52 and a "B" boat following in 7:05. Embry-Riddle finished third in 7:27 and Stetson finished fifth in 7:34.

The Shoremen host Mount Holyoke for a 9:00 a.m. scrimmage next Saturday and host the Caspersen Cup two weeks from today. That event also starts at 9:00 a.m.
