Three Shoremen Named Preseason All-Americans

Cohen Lands on Third Team

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Three Washington College men's lacrosse players have been named Preseason Division III All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse. Senior goalie Gordon Cohen (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) has been named to the third team, while senior midfielder Casey O'Connor (Crownsville, MD/Archbishop Spalding) and senior face-off specialist Thayer Damm (Huntingdon Valley, PA/LaSalle) were tabbed as honorable mentions.

Cohen, who was a 2008 All-America honorable mention and was named to the 2008 All-Centennial Conference first team, posted a .599 save percentage, and a 9.11 goals-against average last season. He also averaged a Centennial Conference-leading 13.06 saves per game, while finishing second in the conference in save percentage. Cohen also had 69 ground balls on the year, second-most on the team, and recorded his first collegiate point by picking up an assist in a win over Ursinus.

Damm was named to the 2008 All-Centennial Conference second team. He went 172-for-280 on face-offs last season, good for a Centennial-leading .614 percentage. He also scooped up a conference -best 95 ground balls.

O'Connor, who was named a 2008 All-Centennial Conference honorable mention, was among the Shoremen's top scorers last season with 15 goals and six assists. He also scooped up 63 ground balls and went 48-of-94 on face-offs.
