March 2, 2009 LANCASTER, PA -- Washington College senior goalie Gordon Cohen (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) has been named the Centennial Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending March 1st. Cohen helped lead the Shoremen to a 2-0 start to the season with an 11-6 win over Kean Wednesday and a 20-6 defeat of Virginia Wesleyan Saturday. Cohen tallied 14 saves in the season-opening win over Kean while allowing six goals. Against Virginia Wesleyan, he made nine stops and allowed just two goals while playing the first 40:31 of the game. This is the second time in his collegiate career Cohen has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week. He previously earned the award for the week ending March 30th, 2008. |
