2007 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College men's lacrosse team has been slotted in the preseason Division III rankings of a pair of lacrosse publications. LAXnews ranks the Shoremen ninth, while Inside Lacrosse has the Shoremen at 11th in its rankings. The Shoremen went 11-6 in 2007, advancing to the Centennial Conference Championship game for the seventh year in a row. The Shoremen have 10 seniors on their roster for the 2008 season, including two-time All-American attackman Chris Read (Baltimore, MD/Boys Latin). Read joins senior attackman Mike Sutter (Ellicott City, MD/Mount St. Joseph), senior defenseman Sean Rapelyea (Cookeville, TN/Mount Hebron, MD), and junior goalie Gordon Cohen (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) as the team's captains. Washington opens its 2008 regular season February 23rd with a 1:00 p.m. game at Wesley. The Shoremen's home opener comes one week later when they host Virginia Wesleyan at 1:00 p.m. |
