May 12, 2008 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The fifth-ranked Washington College men's lacrosse team will face a familiar foe in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals on Wednesday as the Shoremen head to Gettysburg, PA, to play the third-ranked Gettysburg College Bullets for the third time this season. The Shoremen (14-3) defeated fourth-ranked Lynchburg, 12-9, in a second round game on Sunday. Senior attackman Chris Read (Baltimore, MD/Boys Latin) scored five goals and assisted on two others in the victory. The Bullets (16-2) rallied to defeat 12th-ranked Denison, 8-7, in overtime, in a second round game on Saturday. Ben Sufrin scored the game-winning goal with 1:59 remaining in the extra period and finished with three goals overall. Wednesday's game will mark the 18th meeting between the Shoremen and Bullets in the last eight seasons. In this year's two previous meetings, Gettysburg won in Chestertown, 17-10, on April 5th, and beat the Shoremen in Gettysburg, 12-7, on May 4th in the Centennial Conference Championship game. The winner of Wednesday's game will advance to the NCAA Division III Semifinals to face the winner of the quarterfinal game between top-ranked Salisbury and sixth-ranked Cabrini. Salisbury would be the host of that semifinal game should the Sea Gulls get past Cabrini. If Cabrini upsets Salisbury, the winner of the Washington/Gettysburg game would host the semifinal. The start time for Wednesday's game is set for 3:00 p.m. Ticket prices will be $5 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, and $1 for children ages 3-12. Children under three years of age are admitted free with a ticketed adult. Useful Links NCAA
