Berger, Berry Return as Assistant Coaches
for Washington College Men's Lacrosse

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Washington College head men's lacrosse coach J.B. Clarke has announced that Major League Lacrosse All-Star Stephen Berger '04 and Justin Berry will be returning as assistant coaches at Washington College after a one-year hiatus. Both Berger and Berry served as assistant coaches for the Shoremen during the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

Berger was drafted by the MLL's Long Island Lizards in 2004 and earned a spot in the MLL's All-Star game for the first time in 2007. In three years with the Lizards, Berger has scored 62 goals and assisted on 16 others. In Earlier this month, Berger played with the U.S. National Team at the Champions Challenge Weekend.

Berger polished off a stellar collegiate career at Washington in 2004, scoring a school-record 94 points on 53 goals and 41 assists. He was named the 2004 Co-Midfielder of the Year for Division III. He was also named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, was recognized as a first team All-American for the second straight season and as an All-American for the third year in a row. Berger totaled 135 goals, 106 assists, 241 points, and 276 ground balls in four years at WC.

Berry is a 2001 graduate of Towson University. At Towson, Berry captained the Tigers to their first NCAA Semifinals appearance in a decade. Berry is Towson's all-time leader in career face-off wins with 460, including 257 in his senior season. Berry, who earned All-American honors as a senior, was also named the "best face-off man in college lacrosse" by Inside Lacrosse magazine. After finishing his senior season at Towson University, Berry played for the New Jersey Pride for two seasons.
