Seven Shoremen Named All-Centennial
Read & Cohen Named to First Team

LANCASTER, PA -- Seven Washington College men's lacrosse players have been named to the All-Centennial Conference team in a vote conducted by the conference's coaches. Senior attackman Chris Read (Baltimore, MD/Boys Latin) and junior goalie Gordon Cohen (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) were the Shoremen's first team selections. Senior attackman Kolyn Kirby (Chestertown, MD/Kent County), senior midfielder Nick Gregory (Riva, MD/South River), and junior face-off specialist Thayer Damm (Huntingdon Valley, PA/LaSalle) were named to the second team, while junior attackman Jimmy Kielek (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley) and junior midfielder Casey O'Connor (Crownsville, MD/Archbishop Spalding) were honorable mention selections.

All five of the Shoremen's top-five point-getters were named to the All-Centennial team - Read, Kirby, Kielek, Gregory, and O'Connor. Read, Kirby, and Kielek are also currently the top three leading point-getters in the conference.

Read, the 19th player in history to earn All-Centennial first-team honors three times and the sixth Shoreman to do so, leads Washington in both goals (46) and points (69) and is third on the team in assists (23). He currently leads the Centennial Conference in points per game, is second in goals per game, and sixth in assists per game. Through April 27th, he ranked eighth in all of Division III in goals per game, 10th in points per game, and 66th in assists per game. He has also scooped up 43 ground balls this season - fourth best on the team.

Cohen, a first-time All-Centennial honoree, has made 210 saves this year and posted a save percentage of .607 and a goals-against average of 8.90. He leads the Centennial Conference in saves per game and is second in the league in save percentage. Through April 27th, he ranked 40th in all of Division III in save percentage. Cohen also has 64 ground balls this season, second on the team and fourth-best in the Centennial Conference on a per-game basis, and picked up his first career assist in a win over Ursinus.

Kirby, who was an All-Centennial Conference honorable mention at McDaniel in 2006, is second on the team in goals (38), assists (28), and points (66). He ranks second in the conference in points per game, third in assists per game, and seventh in points per game. Through April 27th, he ranked 21st in all of Division III in points per game, 37th in assists per game, and 42nd in goals per game. He is also tied for the conference lead in extra-man goals with 13.

Gregory, a first-time All-Centennial honoree, has had a career year as a senior. Having tallied one goal and one assist in 18 games during his first three years, Gregory is fourth on the team in goals (21), assists (10), and points (31) this season.

Damm, who was named to the All-Centennial Conference second team in 2006, has won 152 of his 248 face-off attempts this year (.613) and has a team-best 83 ground balls. He leads the Centennial Conference in both ground balls and face-off percentage. Through April 27th, he ranked 21st in all of Division III in face-off percentage and 47th in ground balls per game.

Kielek, who was an All-Centennial Conference second team pick a year ago, leads the Shoremen in assists (34) and is second in goals (30) and points (64). He currently leads the Centennial Conference in assists per game, is third in the conference in points per game, and is 10th in the conference in goals per game. Through April 27th, he ranked 12th in all of Division III in assists per game and 27th in points per game. He is also tied for fifth on the team in ground balls with 38.

O'Connor, a first-time All-Centennial pick, ranks fifth on the team in goals (15) and total points (21) and is sixth in assists (6). He is also 45-of-87 on face-offs this season and is third on the team with 55 ground balls.

The Shoremen will host Lynchburg in an NCAA Division III Tournament second round game this Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
