2007 UNIONDALE, NY - Long Island Lizards midfielder and 2004 Washington College graduate Stephen Berger (Columbia, MD/Mount St. Joseph) has been selected to play for the Eastern Conference team in the 2007 Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game to be held Sunday, July 8th, at Harvard Stadium in Boston, MA. The game will air live on ESPN2 at 12:30 p.m. Through five game this year, Berger, now in his third MLL season, has tallied a team-leading 14 goals for the Lizards and is third on the team in total points with 17. He is tied for ninth in the league in goals this season and has helped lead Long Island to a 4-1 record. Berger is one of only two Division III graduates to be selected for this year's All-Star Game. San Francisco Dragons defenseman Eric Martin, a 2004 graduate of Salisbury University, will suit up for the Western Conference team. One of the most outstanding players in Washington College history, Berger polished off a stellar collegiate career at Washington in 2004, scoring a school-record 94 points on 53 goals and 41 assists. He was named the 2004 Co-Midfielder of the Year for Division III. He was also named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year and the ECAC South Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, was recognized as a first team All-American for the second straight season and as an All-American for the third year in a row. Berger, who spent two years as an assistant coach for the Shoremen following his graduation, totaled 135 goals, 106 assists, 241 points, and 276 ground balls in four years at WC. |
