28, 2007 CHESTERTOWN, MD Visiting Ursinus College raced out to a 42-20 halftime lead en route to an 80-59 Centennial Conference men's basketball win over host Washington College tonight in Cain Athletic Center. Ursinus improved to 3-1 overall with the win, while the Shoremen fell to 2-3. The game was the conference opener for both schools. Washington took an early 9-2 lead in the game, but Ursinus outscored the Shoremen, 40-9, over the next 14:35 to blow the game open. The Bears led by as many as 25 points and by at least 14 points throughout the second half. Ursinus shot 54.5% from the field in the game and 8-of-19 from three-point range. Nick Shattuck scored a game-high 23 points for the Bears while Keith Page came off the bench for 14 points on six-of-eight shooting and seven rebounds. John Noonan tallied a double-double of 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Matt Hilton added 12 points for Ursinus. Junior guard Tim Kohlrus (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) scored a team-high 15 points in the loss for the Shoremen, and shared team-high rebounding honors by grabbing seven boards. Junior guard Todd Green (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) added 12 points, while sophomore forward Bobby Klepacki (King of Prussia, PA/Upper Merion) added nine points. Washington shot 30.6% from the field in the loss. The Shoremen did commit just 13 turnovers to the Bears' 23. The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Dickinson. |
