Shoremen Tour Italy and Ireland DAY FOUR - Wednesday, August 18th Today we visited Venice. Because I really like the water, I loved this city. We took a boat to get to the city and the city itself is connected by hundreds of waterways, in which you can take a gondola to travel. The one site we visited in this city was the Palazzo Ducale (Doges' Palace). Aside from this site we had free time to walk around and explore the city. As everything in Italy has been so far, the palace was amazing! To witness it first-hand is the only way to really do it justice. The main walkway of the palace, taking you up all three levels, has a ceiling made entirely out of gold! Furthermore, the palace contained many, many rooms, all decorated with painting masterpieces that covered the walls and ceilings. The palace also had numerous exhibits, the most interesting being of the armor and weapons they used in their times. We visited the dungeons, jail cells, and even a torture chamber, all located within the palace. We tried taking pictures of everything, but it wasn't allowed within the palace walls. After we left the city and had dinner, we traveled to Monfalcone to play our third game against Falconstar Monfalcone. They had a short pre-game ceremony in which their players gave us gifts, and then the game was played. We lost after we fought back late in the game, coming up just short.
