DAY THREE - Tuesday, August 17th

Today we visited the city of Verona. Two sites demanded all of our attention all day...the Roman arena and the famous Casa di Giulietta (the house of Juliet).

The Roman arena is the third largest in the world. And let me tell you, it was amazing how big it was, especially since it was completed in 30 A.D.! It's remarkable to imagine how it was built in a time with no technology. The inside of the Roman arena was still almost perfectly intact, and when it was in use, it could hold the entire city of Verona! Outside the arena were models of old warriors, fully dressed in armor, each standing nearly one hundred feet tall. The Roman arena was a very cool place to be, especially when standing inside of it and imagining it being filled with thousands and thousands of people.

The second site of interest was the famous house of Juliet, the Casa di Giuletta. Although I personally never found this site, I heard it was a lover's paradise. Stuck on the wall, underneath Juliet's balcony, were hundreds of sticky notes in which you could leave a message for a loved one.

After our day in Verona we traveled to Mestre to play our second game against Giants Marghera. This game was a lot more fun, and better planned out than the first game. I thought it really provided us a great experience. Before the game they played both the Italian national anthem, and our own national anthem. Both teams were fully introduced, and in front of a decent amount of fans for both teams, we played the game. We played better and won. After the game we took a photo with the Italian team. It really was a good time.
