2008 COCOA, FL - St. Mary's (MD) College scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning and four in the top of the seventh en route to a 12-1 non-conference baseball victory over Washington College this afternoon at the Cocoa Expo in Cocoa, FL. The Seahawks improved to 7-8 with the win, while the Shoremen slipped to 2-4 with the loss. Jacen Killebrew went 3-for-3 with a walk, three runs, two RBI, and four stolen bases for St. Mary's, while Jay Benedetti was 2-for-5 with four RBI. Ryan D'Antuono picked up the win on the mound, allowing no runs on two hits and five walks while striking out seven batters in six innings. Junior outfielder Chris O'Donovan (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) drove in junior second baseman Doug Lutz (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) for the Shoremen's lone run of the game with an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Shoremen will conclude play at the Cocoa Expo tomorrow with a 9:00 a.m. game against Old Westbury. |
