Live Internet Stats & Play-by-Play:
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do Live Stats work?
A: Our live stat service is possible thanks to the in-game statistical scoring software produced by Stat Crew as well as the TAS Live and TASFTP products provided by the same company. Our staff inputs the official game play-by-play and statistics into Stat Crew and the updated information is transmitted via the Internet to our web site.
Q: Why don't you provide live stats for baseball and softball?
A: GOOD NEWS! We will be providing live stats for baseball and softball home games whenever staffing allows on an experimental basis for the spring of 2007. We will be using mobile broadband cards to do live stats at those two venues and our signal strength may limit our connection at times. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Q: Why don't you provide live stats for road games?
A: Typically, the host school is responsible for the official game statistics. If another school is providing live stats for a Washington College road game, we will provide the link to that school's live stats on our web site.
Q: I've used the Live Stats, but I can only see the statistics and cannot find the play-by-play. Can you help?
A: While the answer varies somewhat by sport, there are links to periods/halves/quarters on the live stat page. Clicking the most recent period will take you to the current play-by-play.
Q: I love the WC Live Stats. Why doesn't school "x" provide them?
A: Live Stats are not possible without an Internet connection. There are many venues at many schools without ways to connect to the Internet. Sports Information Offices also vary in staffing; some schools may not have the staffing to provide the service on a consistent basis.
Q: The live stats have stopped updating and/or disappeared all together. Can you help?
A: Typically, a problem with our live stat service stems from either a problem with our web server or our Internet connection. We will try to do what we can, but understand that some problems are beyond our control and that we have many responsibilities at home events which may preclude us from immediate troubleshooting. If you are having a problem with live stats provided by another school, contact that school.
