Jason Bryden was named the Assistant Sports Information Director at Washington College in July 2006. Bryden, who most recently worked as a contributing writer for The Oneonta (NY) Daily Star, held previous sports information positions at University at Albany and Southern Connecticut State University.
Bryden got his start in sports information as a student assistant at SUNY New Paltz. At New Paltz, he won the 2001 Athletic Director's Award, given to a person or persons who, in the estimation of the Director, has provided dedicated service to the department. After earning a B.A. in Public Relations from New Paltz in 2001, Bryden spent two years working in finance administration for NBT Bancorp in Norwich, NY. In August 2003, Bryden returned to sports information when he began a one-year tenure as an intern at Southern Connecticut State. At Southern Connecticut State, he performed a wide variety of duties, including serving as a statistician for field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, baseball, and softball, and working at four conference and regional championship events.
From Southern Connecticut State, Bryden moved on to Albany, where he spent two years in the athletic media relations office. He spent his first year at Albany as a media relations assistant and his second as the head statistician. While at Albany, he served as the primary media contact for softball and men's and women's soccer, served as the statistician for soccer, basketball, and softball, and assisted with several other facets of the athletic media relations office. Bryden worked at four America East and NCAA Division I Tournament events while at Albany.
Bryden is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA). He worked at the 2007 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championships as an on-field spotter and was part of the 2007 ECAC-SIDA Workshop Local Organizing Committee. In June 2008, he joined the ECAC-SIDA Newsletter Committee and was a part of that committee for four years. In 2008-09, Bryden was on the Rookie Committe and in June 2012 he joined the Website Committee. Since 2009, Bryden has been the photographer for Champ Camp, a boys' lacrosse tournament camp in the Baltimore area that regularly has over 70 teams. Since 2008, he has served as the public address announcer for the Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association Field Hockey Championships which are held on the campus of Washington College.
